Sally's Story

Sally’s Story

One of Millions

Sally, a 42 year old single female living in squalid conditions; has suffered from an undiagnosed disease that affects her central nervous system making her paralyzed from the hips down. Her condition started when she was 7years old; as a result she couldn’t continue school and remained uneducated as she suffered mentally and physically from an undiagnosed and untreated affliction. To add to her anguish, she also suffers from diabetes and some underline undiagnosed illness; possibly malaria. She lives on the generosity of others; with no income or skills.

Yandouba Global Initiative became aware of Sally’s condition through our Medical Technician Community Outreach Personnel. To address her medical conditions, YGI has implemented a treatment plan for Sally to address her diabetes, her undiagnosed chronic central nervous system affliction, and in the process of addressing any underline undiagnosed illness.

YGI has purchased her a wheelchair so she can make it to all future medical appointments; and also to get her out in her own neighborhood that she has lived her whole life.

She is presently on series of diabetes medication and medications to treat her rash-sponsored by YGI.

YGI’s short term goal for Sally is to provide her with a better clean living environment, to diagnose all her underlined illnesses, start and continue treatments, as well as regular home visits by our Medical Technicians.

Sally is just one of millions of extremely poor people living in third world nations that are dying by the minutes because they are helpless, trapped and alone in their fears and illnesses with no one turn to for help. It is our goal to not only provide medical help and nourishment; but also to let them know that they are not alone with their fears.

It is our ultimate goal to sponsor financial, emotional and physical independence through job creation, education that will enhance national and personal pride-the ultimate route to independence.

Updates on Sally

Sally has been diagnosed with various illnesses such as: diabetes, obesity, paralysis, typhoid fever- her obesity isn’t due to excess food, but lack of movement, range of motion, and improper blood circulation. Sally hasn’t been able to walk since she was 7 years old.

She is now in her 40’s and she never had the chance to leave her house prior to her having a wheel chair sponsored by YGI.

She is now on several medications for all the above illnesses; strict diet watch, regular exercise in her wheel chair (at least two hours a day), including her daily crying of joy as she thanks YGI Team for enhancing her life.

The YGI Team on the ground recently rented her a two bedrooms home, living room and a bathroom (not a latrine)-

Long-term goal for Sally:

The YGI Team is working very hard by assessing her present situations and conditions as to what will be best for Sally so that she may independently maintain her health, but to also achieve financial independence.

Facts

  • It is a known fact that handouts do not work; if they worked, the billions of dollars in donations given to non-profits would’ve ended the vicious cycle of dependency in third world nations. But instead of the problems getting better, there is a pressing need for more and more donations every day since millions of children slip through cracks everyday; dying every second from preventable and easily curable diseases.

  • Non-profits are allowing millions of children to slip through cracks in the system while millions of dollars are being donated annually.

Most non-profits use their donations by re-donating to individuals or other organizations without any accountability.

(Read link below for more information of non-profit accountability)

  • Most non profits raise millions of dollars annually; the cost to construct infrastructure that will provide permanent reliable electricity in over 20 districts in an African country is less than $3 million.

  • Funds raised so locals can drink clean water for a limited period of time unless donations keep pouring in exceeds 10 million dollars. The cost to construct permanent infrastructure for permanent clean water supply in 20 districts in an African country does not exceed 5 million dollars.
